These are a few of my fav-o-rite things...
Our replacement kettle arrived this week and I couldn't be happier. I am not much of a tea drinker, but with colder weather and the super-fast water heating powers of our Chefman Electric Kettle, I can't help myself. I even remembered that we have a "tea drawer"....only because our new kitchen has a ton of space, so why not? Since I'm not truly a tea drinker, I tend to stick with the herbal varieties. Mint, Lemon Zinger, and Sleepytime Extra are my go-tos. When I was nursing, I liked the Mother's Milk tea from Traditional Medicinals. It has an anise/licorice fragrance to it, but luckily not the taste. I find tea to be a great appetite suppressant for times when I really want to snack, like after dinner.
I am a light sleeper. And I have abnormally small and misshapen ear canals. Life of the party, I know. When we travel and I have to share a room with G, or if I know my husband will be home late, silicone earplugs are great. Nothing else stays in my ears, but these seem to do the trick. Throw them in after a couple of mugs of Sleepytime Extra, and things are lookin' pretty good!
We all know that roast veggies are amazing, and a great way to warm up the house on a cool fall day. One of my favorite vegetables for roasting is cauliflower. Raw: bleh. Roasted: ahhh! Talk about total transformation. I normally just toss lightly with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and roast at 400' for about 30 minutes. But recently, I found a recipe from Better Homes and Gardens that is great. I have made it with and without the grains. Tonight I will be subbing quinoa for the rice and nixing the chutney. Yum Yum! Sidenote: if you don't have dried currants (you can find them near raisins), sub with raisins.
