Training with Amy began with a desire to lose weight and get healthy. From there, she instilled in me a passion for working out which led to running my first of many 5Ks and a half-marathon.

I hired Amy during an application process for a government position. I was running 3 days a week and lifting when I could. The result was a PT score that barely squeaked the minimum physical requirements for my new job. It was embarrassing, if not frustrating, so I employed Amy to help me over my hurdles.

After 2 months of training, I dropped from 203 to 190, lost 5% of my body fat, dropped my 1.5 mile run by 2 minutes, increased strength, definition and endurance by additional complete circuit sets and blew away my previous PT score. We were also able to identify some underlying health issues.

Two months changed my physical abilities tenfold and created a mind set that allows me to continue to punish myself in true “FitnessWard” fashion to create a better, more efficient athletic ability in my new career.

Working with Amy got me into the best shape of my life. She pushed me to do things I never thought I could. I went from being someone who didn't think she could run to running 30-45 minutes straight and someone who didn't think she could lift heavy weights to performing walking lunges with an extra 50 pounds. I am proud to say that I lost 15 inches while sticking with the program. Amy's approach to training makes you want to be a better person.

I played sports all my life, played basketball in college.  I will tell you that I had experienced the jock "lifting weights" with the basketball team, the typical trips to the gym that netted almost no results.  You would think that after 12 years of being a fit person that I kind of knew what I was doing.  Unbelievably I was wasting my time, energy, and my results were lagging.

Amy began training me with stability training, strength training, and helping me with my diet.  All three were lagging.  Her sessions were quick and brutal, but SO effective.  Sprinkling in Yoga, Pilates, Strength Training, stretching, and her knowledge/expertise was just what I needed.  My trips to the gym decreased by 1/2, my time in the gym decreased by 1/2, and my results probably doubled. 

Her distance workouts were awesome.  I had utilized her for some one on one, sometimes my schedule didn't let me meet personally with her, but her emailed workouts were perfect (probably not as effective with her pushing me).

I began running long distances just before working with Amy.  I completed 10 marathons, 2 half marathons, 1 olympic, and a half iron man the year I utilized her services.  She prevented injuries, encouraged, educated, and instilled passion.  I am proudly 36 years old, and could kick my 22 year old self's butt in any activity, exercise, race, or endurance. I lost 35 pounds, gained an almost 8 pack (can't lie didn't get the last two :), and felt amazing. Thank you, Amy, for all you have done for me and my future me because you have changed my life.

About a year ago, I started working out with Amy Ward on the TRX twice a week. I was old, fat, out of shape and going bald. A year later, I am a year older, not quite as fat and definitely in a whole lot better shape. My lovely bride of 40 years has even referred to me as thin on more than one occasion (ok, twice)-and then quickly qualified it by adding “NER” to the end. Ok, so Amy can’t do anything about my eating, as I consider that my profession. But my pants are looser and my shirts are a little tighter across the chest and I feel better, if not sorer, all over.

Do I need a trainer? Of course not. I have all the “stuff” at home gathering dust and loose clothing. But having a regular workout schedule and seeing results is a great motivator. And there is no doubt that Amy can fit more into an hour than someone can or would on their own. As hard as I try to find excuses to take a break, Amy finds a kind way to get me back on track.

And I think that a few of my hair follicles have starting sprouting, but that could be wishful thinking.

Amy's knowledge of fitness and nutrition has helped me go beyond what I thought possible after having 5 kids.  For years I tried to lose weight and get in shape, but the same old routine just wasn't cutting it.  Once I met with Amy, she designed a home based workout for me, we talked about the importance of nutrition and I signed up for her boot camp.  Both workouts are excellent and I love how she mixes them up.  My home workouts are changed every 3 weeks and boot camp is a great group workout that is different every day.  Keeping a food journal really made a difference.  Amy is a wonderful trainer; she's just one of those unique people that make you want to persevere and not give up.
